Dr. John Gratto joined McPherson & Jacobson in 2014. He served 23 years as a Superintendent of Schools in districts ranging from 450 to 4500 students, five years as a K-12 principal, two years as a K-6 principal, and one year as an Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction prior to assuming his current position as an Assistant Professor of the Educational Leadership at Virginia Tech in August of 2012.
He currently teaches graduate classes in Virginia Tech’s principal preparation program particularly Curriculum Leadership, Instructional Leadership, Personnel Administration, Community Engagement, and Research, Assessment, and Data. He also teaches Theories of Educational Administration and Administration of Instructional Programs in Virginia Tech’s doctoral program in Educational Leadership in addition to supervising teachers who are interning as principals.
Dr. Gratto is currently the President of the Virginia Professors of Educational Leadership. He has also served as a Member of the New York State Education Commissioner’s Advisory Council, a Blue Ribbon School Review Panelist for New York State Elementary Schools, President of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference, and Executive Secretary of the Essex County School Boards Association.
He earned his Ed.D. in Education Administration from Teachers College, Columbia University.← Back to list of consultants
